What is drain patching?
Drain patching is one of several types of no-dig drain repair technologies that we commonly use to repair damaged or leaking pipes, without the need for excavation. Drain patches can be made from a variety of materials, including fiberglass or resin.
When our engineers attend your property to deal with a damaged drain, they will firstly use a CCTV drain camera to locate and assess the damage. They will then determine whether a drain patch is sufficient to effectively repair the pipe.
If they decide that it is the best solution, they will insert a pre-made drain patch into the damaged section of the pipe using a special tool, and seal it in place.
Once the drain patch is secured in place, it is then cured. This creates a new, structurally sound section of pipe within the existing one.

What are the benefits of drain patching?
There are several benefits to choosing drain patching over traditional excavation drain repair methods.
Firstly, drain patching is a much faster and more cost-effective solution. This is because it eliminates the need for excavation, which can be time-consuming and expensive.
Drain patching is also more environmentally friendly than drain excavation, as it produces less waste, and causes less disruption to the surrounding area.
Additionally, it is a highly durable and long-lasting solution, as the drain patch creates a seamless, structurally sound pipe that is resistant to future damage.

What is the difference between drain lining and drain patching?
Drain patching and drain lining are both non-invasive techniques for repairing damaged or leaking pipes, but the two approaches are slightly different.
Drain patching involves inserting a pre-made patch into the damaged section of the pipe, then sealing and curing it in place. The drain patch covers only the area of the pipe that is damaged.
Drain lining, on the other hand, involves inserting a flexible liner into the damaged pipe and then inflating it. This moulds the drain liner to the shape of the entire pipe, rather than just covering the damaged section. The liner is coated with a resin that hardens in place to create a new, seamless pipe within the existing damaged one.
Drain patching is typically used for smaller, localised areas of damage, while drain lining can be used to repair entire lengths of pipe.
