Last night, our team worked on a lane closure due to a highway gully backing up and flooding during rainfall. We confirmed that there was silt within the S/W main, so we carried out cleaning works and a Drainage CCTV survey to confirm the integrity of the network.
The lane closure was necessary to ensure the safety of our team and the public. The silt in the S/W main was causing the gully to back up and flood, which could have led to a serious accident. By carrying out cleaning works and a CCTV survey, we were able to clear the silt and prevent any further flooding.
The night shift work was challenging, but our team was able to complete the job safely and efficiently. We are grateful for the patience and understanding of the public during this time.
How We Resolved the Drain Unblocking
The first step was to confirm that the problem was caused by silt in the S/W main. We did this by using a CCTV camera to inspect the pipe. Once we had confirmed the problem, we began cleaning the pipe. We used a high-pressure water jet to remove the silt.
Once the pipe was clean, we performed another CCTV survey to confirm that the problem had been resolved. The survey showed that the pipe was clear and there was no evidence of any further flooding.
The Importance of Night Shift Work
Night shift work is often necessary to complete repairs and maintenance on critical infrastructure. This is because it can be difficult to close roads or highways during the day, when there is a lot of traffic. By working at night, we were able to complete the repairs without disrupting traffic.
